Ingrid & Mary Tyler Moore |
who can turn the world on with a smile? |
by Michelle Fryou
I don't know about the rest of you, but while watching reruns of The Mary Tyler Moore Show I noticed what seems to be a connection to Ingrid. Now, granted, it has been suggested to me that I could look at wet paint on a wall and still see a connection to Ingrid. Well, now that you mention it…. remember in Stromboli when Ingrid was trying to cheer up the place by painting little designs on the wall? I mean, the connection is SO obvious! Geesh! Anywaaaay - back to my point (and yes, I do have one!). Remember Mary's friend Phyllis? Well, consider these little facts about her never seen husband:
His first name - Lars!
Coincidence??? I think NOT! Whether this was an intentional sort of amalgam of Ingrid's Swedish husbands (Petter Lindstrom, a former dentist! and Lars Schmidt) by the show's creators, or simply a case of their subconscious at work, I don't know. Regardless of what prompted these similarities, I am convinced somebody on that show must have had Ingrid-on-the-brain (a condition I know quite well!). So, what can we conclude from all of this, besides the obvious fact that I've spent WAY too much time thinking about it? Uh, well, nothing I suppose, except that when you've been bitten by the Bergman bug, pretty much everything seems to have a connection, no matter how tenuous, to Ingrid. Oh, one final thought. Whenever I listen to the theme song from The Mary Tyler Moore Show, I can't help but think how the lyrics could just as easily be applied to Ingrid. See if you agree. Come on, let's all sing along, shall we?
Who can turn the world on with her smile?
